“I do not hate the Russians.
I do not hate the Mujahideen.
I hate what Afghanistan made of me.”
Afghanistan, 1987.
Two East German officer cadets are sent to Afghanistan to observe Soviet long-range reconnaissance units operating deep inside the war zone.
They are not supposed to fight.
But on the flight to a remote Soviet outpost, their helicopter is shot out of the sky by the Mujahideen.
Twentyone men were aboard.
Only five survive.
